Fãs de ‘Stranger Things’ acusam ator de xenofobia e organizam um boicote a última temporada da série

Após a demissão de Melissa Barrera, protagonista da nova encarnação da franquia “Pânico”, por postar nas redes sociais um comentário visto como controverso sobre a guerra entre Israel e o Hamas, Noah Schnapp teve seu nome envolvido de novo na polêmica sobre o conflito no Oriente Médio.

O intérprete do personagem de Will Byers em “Stranger Things” tem sido acusado de compartilhar publicações ofensivas à Palestina e apoiando a soberania de Israel. Os posts foram bastante criticados parte dos fãs da série e nas redes sociais, vem crescendo uma mobilização para boicotar a última temporada da série, prevista para estrear em 2025.

Schnapp expressou apoio a Israel curtindo publicações xenofóbicas e racistas no Instagram, zombando da população palestina. Em um vídeo divulgado na plataforma, o ator e seus amigos exibem adesivos com a frase “sionismo é sexy”.

O sionismo é o movimento que defende a criação de um Estado judeu independente e a manutenção de Israel. Algumas pessoas interpretaram o adesivo que menciona o movimento como um deboche. Há quem associe o sionismo a uma política colonizadora e racista, por causa da relação de Israel com a Palestina na região.

No mês passado, Noah Schnapp publicou um texto em seu Instagram em que critica seguidores que celebraram os ataques do grupo terrorista Hamas e diminuíram a importância das mortes de israelenses. ” Como um americano judeu, estou com medo. Com medo pelos meus irmãos e irmãs em Israel, que foram atacados sem sentido pelo Hamas. Estou verdadeiramente desolado ao ver os assassinatos brutais de crianças inocentes, mulheres e soldados lutando para se defender”, escreveu.
