Filme transforma brincadeiras de criança, como esconde-esconde, em desafios mortais

Jogos infantis como esconde-esconde e pega-pega são tão universais que não seria nenhuma surpresa se eles pudessem, um dia, serem incluídas de forma macabra em um filme de terror. É exatamente o que acontece em “O Jogo da Invocação”, longa com selo dos irmãos Russo (de “Vingadores” e outros sucessos do universo Marvel), que chega aos cinemas nesta quinta (30), com uma série de peculiaridades.

Jovens e crianças brincando com espíritos não são nenhuma novidade em Hollywood. Basta lembrar, por exemplo, de “O Amigo Oculto”, suspense de 2005 estrelado por Robert De Niro e Dakota Fanning, em que uma criança desenvolve uma amizade com um suposto ser das trevas. A ideia é bem parecida, mas executada de forma diferente.

Na trama assinada por Eren Celeboglu e Ari Costa, também diretores, ao lado de JJ Braider, Jonah (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) descobre uma conexão entre o passado e os dias atuais através de um presente que acaba de receber: uma antiga faca de osso. Ao encostar nela, um espírito é evocado e passa a desafiar a paciência e a boa vontade dele e seus irmãos, Marcus (Asa Butterfield, de “Sex Education”) e Billie (Natália Dyer, de “Stranger Things“).

Um roteiro sem grandes pretensões, estilo “Sessão da Tarde”, mas o filme oferece bons momentos. A fotografia e a tensão dos jogos sugeridos pela entidade rendem cenas bem trabalhadas, principalmente graças a Butterfield. Isto é também o que clamam Costa e Celeboglu, em entrevista ao F5 por vídeo.

“Eles proporcionam um outro trabalho em cena”, elogiam os cineastas, que herdaram muito do processo de bastidores dos irmãos Russo.

Orgulhosos do resultado final de “O Jogo da Invocação”, primeiro trabalho de direção de ambos, que se desenvolveram na área de produção, os cineastas são fãs assumidos do gênero. “Acredito que as pessoas se tornam mais emotivas e colocadas em situações a que não estão acostumadas, por isso filmes de terror são sempre os melhores”, diz Celeboglu.
