Por que Keanu Reeves quis lançar filme direto no cinema?

Keanu Reeves exaltou os motivos que tornam o cinema tão benéfico para o público de John Wick 4

Na era dos serviços de streaming, diversos filmes que poderiam ser lançados nos cinemas são descartados das salas e vão diretor para plataformas online, como Netflix, HBO Max e Amazon Prime Video. John Wick 4 poderia ter tido esse destino, mas Keanu Reeves fez questão que a nova entrada da franquia chegasse diretamente às telonas.

Durante entrevista ao Wired, Reeves explicou como sempre quis que o quarto filme da franquia de ação estrelada por ele chegasse aos cinemas antes do streaming. Como justificativa, o ator falou sobre as virtudes da tela grande e como a escala ajuda na imersão do público.

“São sonhos, certo? E imersão. Acho que o poder do cinema – parte dele é a novidade, mas também a escala. Você vê um close-up de uma atuação maravilhosa com emoções e narrativas que tocam você,” afirmou. “Seja terror, ação ou comédia, você está vendo um rosto com, sabe, 6 metros de altura. Sim. Você está lá. A intimidade disso.”

Após muita espera, John Wick 4 ganhou primeira imagem oficial com Keanu Reeves caracterizado como o protagonista. A foto foi mostrada pelo estúdio Lionsgate durante painel na San Diego Comic-Con 2022 na última quinta, 21.

Mesmo com a imagem, o longa ainda possui diversos mistérios, como o título oficial. A continuação de John Wick 3: Parabellum (2019) deveria estrear nos cinemas em 2021, mas foi adiada para 24 de março de 2023. Veja a imagem abaixo:
