Uma equipe de pesquisadores liderados pelo Museu de Zoologia da USP e Universidade Federal de Uberlândia encontrou pegadas de dinossauros no interior de São Paulo. O achado é inédito não pelo tipo do registro, mas pela época que representam os rastros de ao menos três animais diferentes.

- Elas formam os rastros de ao menos três dinossauros diferentes e são registros de algum momento entre 90 e 100 milhões de anos atrás
- As pegadas são de um terópode, como o Tiranossauro Rex ou Velociraptor, um saurópode e um ornitópode
- As escavações aconteceram em setembro deste ano na cidade de General Salgado (SP), próxima da divisa com Mato Grosso do Sul
Não é todo dia que você esbarra na pegada de um dinossauro, se não considerar as galinhas e outras aves. Especialmente quando estes rastros possuem algo entre 90 e 100 milhões de anos e estão no interior de São Paulo, na cidade de de General Salgado (SP), a mais de seis horas de carro da capital paulista.
De acordo com a Folha de São Paulo, a equipe de pesquisadores das duas universidades escavou as pegadas em uma rocha com peso próximo dos 100 quilos, que faz parte de um bloco ainda maior e dividido em três partes. Os cientistas afirmam ter encontrado os rastros de três animais diferentes.
O primeiro é um terópode, tipo de dinossauro bastante conhecido por andar em duas patas e estar no logo do Jurassic Park. Geralmente são carnívoros como o Tiranossauro Rex e Velociraptor. Já os outros dois têm tudo para estar no grupo dos herbívoros, sendo um saurópode e outro um ornitópode – o primeiro quadrúpede e o segundo bípede.
“Pode ser que ali estejam representados pelo menos três animais diferentes, que tem um terópode é indiscutível pelos três dedos bem visíveis com uma garra, e pode ser que talvez tenha um outro que tem a forma mais arredondada, como cascos, e um terceiro bem circular, que pode ter sido um filhote de saurópode. São interpretações que a gente faz depois, em laboratório” Marcelo Adorna, da UFSCar
Nas rochas não foram encontrados outros restos ou pegadas, o que praticamente impossibilita a identificação da espécie.
Existem outras pesquisas para encontrar dinossauro
Este não é o único trabalho feito no interior do Brasil para encontrar registros de dinossauros. Uma expedição liderada pela USP, mas com participação de museus e institutos distintos, com nome de Trilha dos Dinossauros, está percorrendo 24 municípios de São Paulo na busca de registros como estes, ou restos mais preservados do que apenas pegadas.
A expedição teve início em abril deste ano e ainda não soubemos de relatos, mas certamente ela não está envolvida no achado compartilhado recentemente, pois o mapa proposto não caminha próximo do extremo norte de São Paulo.
