Elon Musk acusa de chantagem empresas que anunciam no X

Em declarações explosivas nesta quarta-feira (29/11), Elon Musk criticou os anunciantes que deixaram o X (antigo Twitter), alertando que eles acabariam com a plataforma de rede social.
Em um evento em Nova York, ele acusou empresas que aderiram a um boicote publicitário contra o site de tentar chantageá-lo.
“Vão se *****”, disse o bilionário em uma entrevista durante evento promovido pelo jornal The New York Times.
Algumas empresas interromperam seus anúncios no X depois que Musk foi acusado de antissemitismo em uma postagem na própria rede social.
O chefe da Tesla e da SpaceX pediu desculpas por essa postagem, dizendo que poderia ser a coisa “mais idiota” que ele já compartilhou online.
Mas foi a sua resposta a uma pergunta sobre o boicote publicitário por parte de empresas como a Disney, a Apple e a Comcast que causou agitação durante o evento que reúne líderes dos mundos dos negócios, da política e da cultura.
“Não quero que eles anunciem”, disse Musk no DealBook Summit do New York Times.
“Se alguém vai me chantagear com publicidade ou dinheiro, vão se *****!.”
“Vá se *****. Está claro? Espero que esteja”, diz Musk. “Ei, Bob, se você está na plateia, é assim que me sinto.”
Aparentemente, ele estava se referindo ao presidente-executivo da Disney, Bob Iger, que participou de um painel no evento no início do dia.

No mesmo evento em que Musk falava, estava Linda Yaccarino, presidente-executiva da X, que foi acusada de tentar trazer de volta os anunciantes à plataforma.
Em sua entrevista, Musk também disse que os anunciantes poderiam acabar com o X.
“O que este boicote publicitário vai fazer é matar a empresa”, disse ele. “O mundo inteiro saberá que esses anunciantes mataram a empresa e documentaremos isso detalhadamente”, acrescentou.
Yaccarino repostou a fala de Musk em sua conta no X, classificando o episódio como uma “entrevista sincera”. A presidente-executiva disse ainda que o “X está permitindo uma independência de informação que é desconfortável para algumas pessoas”.
“Somos uma plataforma que permite que as pessoas tomem suas próprias decisões”, escreveu.

Musk visitou Israel depois de, no mês passado, parecer apoiar uma teoria da conspiração antissemita em sua conta no X.
“Sinto muito por aquele tuíte… pode ser literalmente a pior e mais idiota postagem que já fiz”, disse ele nesta quarta.
O boicote, porém, não está relacionado apenas a esse post. Antes mesmo do incidente, muitos anunciantes já haviam decidido gastar seu dinheiro em outro lugar.
Em uma entrevista à BBC em abril, Musk disse que “quase todos eles [anunciantes] ou voltaram ou vão voltar”.
Três meses depois, ele reconheceu em uma postagem no X que a receita publicitária havia caído 50%.
Pouco antes, o grupo de monitoramento progressista Media Matters publicou um relatório que afirmava ter encontrado provas de que anúncios no X estavam sendo colocados ao lado de conteúdo nazista.
O X diz que o relatório do grupo “deturpou a experiência real do usuário de X”, a fim de “minar a liberdade de expressão e enganar os anunciantes”. A plataforma entrou com uma ação judicial contra a Media Matters.
É difícil imaginar que os comentários de Musk podem fazer com que os anunciantes recuem.
Não está claro quanto da receita da X vem atualmente de anúncios, porque se trata de uma empresa privada que não publica mais relatórios trimestrais. Mas antes de Musk assumir o comando da empresa, a publicidade representava cerca de 90% da receita do Twitter.
