Michelle Yeoh sentiu pressão para se aposentar antes de Tudo em Todo Lugar

Vencedora de um Globo de Ouro pelo papel no sucesso de 2022, Michelle Yeoh revelou que já recebeu diversas indiretas sobre o assunto

Estrela de longas como 007 – O Amanhã Nunca Morre (1997) e Podres de Ricos (2018), Michelle Yeoh revelou que já recebeu diversas indiretas sobre aposentadoria antes de seus mais recentes trabalhos. Em entrevista ao podcast The Envelope (via NME), a atriz ainda afirmou que a pressão só chegou ao fim com Tudo em Todo o Lugar ao Mesmo Tempo.

No longa, Yeoh vive diferentes versões da protagonista Evelyn Quan Wang — e chegou a ser indicada a dezenas de prêmios pela atuação. Antes de conquistar o Globo de Ouro de Melhor Atriz em Musical ou Comédia pelo papel, contudo, Michelle chegou a sentir-se pressionada com a ideia da aposentadoria.

“Sabe, conforme você envelhece, que os papéis ficam menores. Parece que os números sobem e essas coisas ficam estreitas e então você começa a ser jogado cada vez mais para o lado. Então, quando ‘Tudo em Todo o Lugar’ veio… foi muito emocionante, porque isso significa que você é quem está liderando todo esse processo, quem está contando a história”, afirmou.

Segundo a atriz, ninguém nunca incentivou sua aposentadoria “com todas as palavras”, mas a ideia lhe foi sugerida diversas vezes, mesmo que indiretamente. “Sabe, conforme você envelhece, as pessoas começam a dizer: ‘Ah, sim, você deveria se aposentar. Você deve fazer isso’. Não, pessoal. Não me digam o que fazer. Eu deveria estar no controle, certo?”, narrou.

Em seguida, Michelle citou artistas como Reese Witherspoon e Nicole Kidman, que, em sua opinião, criaram suas próprias produtoras “porque também previram isso”. Por sorte, Yeoh não acatou as indiretas e protagonizou Tudo em Todo o Lugar ao Mesmo Tempo — ainda que o papel tenha sido escrito para um homem, e Jackie Chan o tenha recusado.
